I recently suffered a severe foot and ankle injury and thought it might be more than a sprain. Luckily, that was not the case. Sent home from the hospital in an air cast and crutches, I had explicit instructions to sit, soak, and relax. Since I don’t have servants, maids or caretakers, I stayed off the foot as best I could. I hobbled around to take care of necessary things. I started soaking with Epsom salt and when that finished, I grabbed the coarse sea salt from my kitchen. I discovered that sea salt is used for more than just cooking. It’s packed with a multitude of minerals and has healing properties. Ever spend time in the ocean and notice that scrapes or cuts have healed rather quickly?
Sea salt is also a primary ingredient in body scrubs. When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, the dentist recommended salt-water rinses. But I did not know that sea salt could be used as a gargle to soothe an aching throat, or as a flush for an internal cleansing.
I am happy to report that my foot is on the mend. It’s looking slender once again and should be completely back to normal soon.
