The Quest for Natural Beauty Products

Today I tried to wade through the myriad of makeup brands labeled natural, organic, and mineral. I thought that mineral makeup was better, and discovered that two or three ingredients may be potentially harmful.

An article in the New York Times published in 2006, listed two minerals (mica and bismuth oxychloride) believed to cause acne and micro tears in the skin. After reading the article, I decided to take a break. I’m not sure if this statement is true — it certainly is frightening.

Does completely natural makeup even exist? Am I searching in vain? What ingredients are actually good for the skin? After much thought, I decided to narrow it down to a few brands. I plan to double-check all of the ingredients carefully — to educate myself on what is natural and healthy. Then I’ll decide which one to try.

And now it’s time to get cozy with a good book.
